Work based training
Most of the vacancies advertised through the Careers and Job Search Centres are for work-based training - otherwise known as Modern Apprenticeships.
Modern Apprenticeships are available at two levels - Foundation Modern Apprenticeships and Advanced Modern Apprenticeships - the only real difference being the entry requirements ie. the number of GCSE passes required to apply.
Trainees are paid an allowance which varies depending on the company and generally spend four days with the employer and one day a week at college studying for an NVQ.
