Year 11: Application Advice

Telephone Tips

Telephone response to a job advertisement

Some advertisements ask you to telephone for further details and/or an application form

Before telephoning you should:

  • Make sure you have the advertisement close to hand for reference and if possible ask for the person named in the advert.
  • Have pen and paper in case you need to take down further details.
  • Write down beforehand what you are going to say.
  • Always be polite and courteous.
  • If the person is not available, ask when he/she will be in and say you'll ring back. Make sure you leave your name and the reason why you're calling.
  • Write down any information they give you regarding the post or location of the company.
